Frequently Asked Questions
What can I expect during a typical session?
After filling out a brief intake form, we talk about what's going on with your body and plan your massage. I will leave the room while you get comfortable underneath the sheets & blanket, and again after the session. We'll talk about anything that came up during the massage, you pay for the session, and hopefully you get to enjoy the rest of a relaxing day.
A couple things that do NOT happen: These massages do not involve touch of a sexual nature. Also, as a massage therapist I am not legally authorized to diagnose any condition, prescribe any treatment, or make chiropractic-style thrusting joint or spinal adjustments.

Am I supposed to be naked?
You should undress "to your level of comfort" - for most people this means wearing nothing (or just underwear). Not all massage techniques can be used without oil, but I will do my best to give you a good massage no matter what you are wearing. You will be under sheets & a blanket. I will only uncover the area that I am currently working on, and I will carefully tuck the sheet around you so as to keep the rest of you from being exposed.
Sounds great - can I get a massage today?
Since I only practice on Fridays (10am-7pm) and Saturdays (11am-6pm), it's usually best to call at least a day or two in advance to make sure you'll be able to get an appointment, but I can occasionally make same-day appointments.
Should I tip?
While it is certainly not required, tips are always appreciated.
Do you take credit cards?
I do not have a credit card processing setup in my office, but you can pre-pay for a massage with all major credit cards or a direct debit through PayPal from the rates page.
Do you take insurance?
Sadly, at this point I do not. Having done insurance authorization for a different type of clinic in the past, I know how much extra work it can be, and I prefer to save my energy for actually doing massage.
Do you do massage on pregnant women?
Yes! Massage can be wonderful for pregnant women, as long as they are positioned comfortably. I like to bring in a heap of extra pillows to accomplish this - please let me know when you schedule the massage so I can prepare an extra-cozy massage table!
I've heard you're supposed to drink lots of water after a massage. Why is this?
Massage helps clean out the body by causing it to dump stored toxins out of the cells and into the bloodstream. If you're well-hydrated, this is great and means getting rid of things you didn't need. If your body runs short on the water needed to flush out these toxins, you might feel kind of icky - a bit like a hangover - and no one wants that!
